Prior to becoming a lawyer, I spent many years teaching school. I loved teaching and through it learned focus, creativity and flexibility – skills that have carried through to my legal career. I was born and raised in Western Canada, and ultimately settled in Victoria with my husband and three (now adult) children. I grew up in the country and I still spend as much time as possible outdoors: hiking with our dogs, gardening and spending time on the water.
I practice exclusively in the area of personal injury. Being practical and proactive has allowed me to be an effective advocate for my clients and has enabled me to reach pragmatic solutions to even the most complicated matters. I enjoy going to court and am fully prepared to take a case to trial when necessary. I realize, however, that going to trial is not always in the best interests of my clients and my primary focus is to resolve conflicts fairly and efficiently. The litigation process can be daunting. My past experience as defence counsel provides me with a depth of expertise that can benefit those who have been injured to receive fair compensation and allow them to move forward with their lives.
