I was born and raised in the Prairies, spending various parts of my childhood in Saskatoon and Calgary. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Victoria, obtaining a double major in Philosophy and Psychology (with distinction). Between my undergraduate degree and law school, I spent 8 months living and teaching children in Hyderabad, India. I completed my law school at the University of Saskatchewan and spent my initial years of practice in Saskatoon. During my studies I participated in the study abroad program (Australia), as well as the Dean’s Forum on Access to Justice and Dispute Resolution, and the Clinical Law Intensive Program, which operated in partnership with the Community Legal Assistance Services for Saskatoon Inner City Inc. (CLASSIC). I moved to Victoria in 2018, after which time I was involved with the Canadian Bar Association (BC Branch) Commercial and Real Estate – Vancouver Island Section as a member at large from 2019 to 2021, and volunteered with the Project Zero Business Incubator Program from 2019 to 2021. Since starting at Sitka Law in 2020, I have been involved with the Canadian Bar Association (BC Branch) Civil Litigation – Vancouver Island Section as vice-chair (2021 to 2023) and subsequently Chairperson (2023-2024).
I operate a practice focused primarily on Civil Litigation, ranging from breach of contract and debt claims to more complex commercial litigation files. I have handled matters before both the Provincial Court and Supreme Court of British Columbia. While I am prepared to go to trial on matters, I understand that the traditional litigation path is not always in the best interests of the client or in line with a client’s objectives. Having handled a range of litigation files enables me to consider non-traditional strategies for addressing a legal problem, while still being prepared to diligently advocate for my clients’ interests.
Outside of the office, I love spending time with my young family and animals, particularly doing various outdoor activities or travelling.
